Next stop! Warren Station, a Fenwick Island family-friendly restaurant in Coastal Delaware

Have a hankering for some homemade comfort food? Then plan a visit with the family to Fenwick Island, Delaware where this family-friendly restaurant has been since 1960. Warren Station is a family run business, that brings families back year after year with their tradition to provide homemade dishes that are prepared daily, at a reasonable price.

This family restaurant opened its doors and its heart to the community almost 60 years ago when Warren D. Johnson a Pennsylvania turkey farmer decided to open a restaurant. Turkey was obviously a specialty of Warren’s and a variety of turkey options remain on the menu today.  In 1972 Warren sold his restaurant to 2 employees, Jeff and Paula Mumford. The Mumford family has been in business ever since.

In 1983 the station was remodeled to accommodate the growth of the business and the increase of visitors to the Fenwick Island area.  It was decided that the new restaurant would be a replica of a United States Life-Saving Station.

The United States Life-Saving Service was a United States government agency that grew out of private and local humanitarian efforts to save the lives of shipwrecked mariners and passengers. It began in 1848 and ultimately merged with the Revenue Cutter Service to form the United States Coast Guard in 1915.

Warren Station aims to not only feed your belly but to warm your heart with its homestyle feel, decor, and ambiance.

When we visited, multiple families were waiting to be seated and the majority were families of 4 or more. A warming sight to see; generations sitting together and catching up over a meal.

You will receive a warm welcome upon entering and make sure to bring the whole family, as the food has options for all to enjoy. It doesn’t matter if you’re eating with great-grandma, or the newest addition in the family, everyone will leave feeling welcomed and full.

This season marks Warren Stations 59th year in business.

They have just been named on the Best of Coastal Living 2019 and they have had this honor multiple times before. The fact that they keep receiving this honor really speaks to the dedication of this family-owned business.

What to pair with that? A hint of sweetness was called for here, and their coleslaw was a great side match. A fresh, crisp, and tasty coleslaw balanced with flavor and texture.
