Local Spotlight: Big Chill Beach Club

  There are some places that just feel like summer, and Big Chill Beach Club is definitely one of them! Tucked along Indian River Inlet inside Delaware Seashore State Park, just south of Rehoboth Beach, this is the kind of spot where you can show up for a bite to eat and end up staying for the views, the atmosphere, and a few more hours of good company.

  From the moment you arrive, it’s easy to see what makes Big Chill so special. With beautiful views of the ocean and bay, a laid-back coastal atmosphere, and plenty of activity all around, it captures so much of what we love about living near the Delaware beaches. It’s casual, welcoming, and the perfect place to spend an afternoon that turns into an evening without much of a plan at all.

Come for the Views, Stay for the Food

  Of course, we couldn’t visit without trying some of the food! With such an expansive menu and so many tempting options, narrowing down our order was a challenge. Everything sounded delicious, and we had a feeling we were going to need to try a little bit of everything.We kicked things off with a Key Lime Crush, which was exceptional and the perfect way to settle into the evening. There’s something about enjoying a refreshing drink with the coastal breeze nearby that makes you feel like you’re officially on vacation, even when you're right here at home. When it came time to order food, we settled on chicken nachos, a lobster roll, and a burger. And with a group of 10, sharing a few things and getting a taste of everything was the way to go!

  First up were the chicken nachos, and let's just say the portion did not disappoint. There was more than enough for everyone at the table to dig in and share. It was the kind of appetizer that immediately gets everyone talking, reaching across the table, and going back for just one more bite.Next was the lobster roll, which was buttery, savory, and everything you hope for when ordering this coastal classic. It felt right at home in a setting like Big Chill, where seafood, waterfront views, and a relaxed atmosphere all come together.And then there was the burger! Sometimes the simplest choices end up being the ones you can't stop thinking about, and this was one of those times. It was a favorite around the table, and by the end of the meal, we were all pretty happy with our choices.

  With so many different things to try, the meal became more than just dinner. It was a chance to sit back, share a few plates, enjoy the conversation, and take our time. And honestly, isn't that what a good night out at the beach should be all about?

A Little Something for Everyone

  Once we finished eating, we took some time to explore the rest of the property, and there was still plenty to discover!We made our way down to the lower level, where we found the merchandise shop and ice cream shop. The ice cream was the perfect finishing touch to our evening, especially with so many flavors to choose from. Whether you're looking for a sweet treat after dinner or simply want to make an outing out of ice cream and a view, it's a fun way to round out your visit.

  The lower level also has games and activities for kids, which adds another layer to what makes Big Chill such a great place for families. Parents can enjoy a meal and take in the scenery while the kids have something of their own to look forward to. It makes the experience feel less like a quick stop for food and more like a place where everyone can find something to enjoy.

  As much as we enjoyed the food, I think what we loved most about Big Chill Beach Club was the feeling of the place. It's easy to picture a summer evening here: friends gathering around a table, families enjoying dinner together, kids finding something fun to do, and people settling in with a drink as the sun begins to set. Some come for the food, others come for the views, and plenty of people probably come for a little bit of everything. There's no need to rush through a meal or make a complicated plan. You can grab a bite, enjoy the scenery, listen to music, wander around the shops, and finish the night with ice cream. Before you know it, an ordinary evening has turned into a memory.

  That's one of the things we appreciate most about Coastal Delaware. Beyond the beautiful beaches and familiar summer traditions, there are so many local spots that give us a reason to slow down and enjoy where we live. They become places to meet up with friends, celebrate a little something, spend time with family, or simply enjoy a beautiful evening near the water. And sometimes, those are the places that become part of our favorite memories of living at the coast.
